NAFD calls on the Government to address funeral poverty In a letter to The Guardian the National Association of Funeral Directors calls on the Government to provide properly for the thousands too poor to afford a funeral for their lost loved ones and address the problems this causes for funeral directors and local authorities. You’ll see posts on here about the NAFD, the National Association of Funeral Directors in the UK, and posts about the NFDA, that’s the National Funeral Directors Association in America. Its easy to confuse the initials and to be honest , you wont be the first if you do it:) The important thing is that both Associations carry out an amazing job for funeral directors on each side of the pond. Now that our company is a member of the NAFD I get the opportunity to attend a number of meetings within the Association but this was my first attendance at my own local Guild. Our company, Leisure Expo, has recently joined the association so it was our first conference as members. The NAFD deserves great credit for a very smoothly run event. As for the banquet, it was truly excellent, with fine food, delicious wine and superb entertainment. [...] I have yet another funeral to attend next week for an aunt who died at 87. Most of my relatives reach a ripe old age, in fact my mother in law, God bless her, is now enjoying a whole new lease of life after a hip replacement at 92!
